Today's Story Highlights

Managing the Enterprise Data Deluge
How can enterprises better manage the explosion of information around
them? Businesses of all stripes need better means of access, governance,
and data lifecycle best practices, given the vast ocean of new
information coming from many different directions. By getting a better
handle on information explosion, analysts and users gain clarity in
understanding what is really going on within the businesses.

The State of BPM: Poised for Takeoff
Nothing like a recession to spur business growth. In the BPM space, the
current downturn has presented a major marketing opportunity for
software and IT service firms. Sparked by customers seeking to cut costs
and by innovations in e-commerce, the BPM market could easily double
over the next several years.

Microsoft Releases Razorfish in $530M Publicis Deal
French advertising company Publicis Groupe has agreed to buy Microsoft's
digital advertising firm Razorfish in a move to boost its share of
advertising on the Web, according to a joint statement released Sunday.
The deal is valued at $530 million, comprised of cash and 6.5 million
Publicis Groupe treasury shares.

TV Ads That Refuse to Be Ignored
Coming soon to your TV: More advertising, in places you might not
expect. The ads are showing up where people used to enjoy a break from
advertising, such as video on demand and on-screen channel guides. Even
TiVo, which became popular for its technology that lets people skip TV
commercials, is developing new ways to show ads.

Microsoft's Unquenchable Thirst for Search Data
Microsoft is hoping that a long-term partnership with rival Yahoo will
give it the size and insight it needs to bring in more traffic, more
advertisers and ultimately more revenue. By handling Yahoo's searches
along with its own, Microsoft can learn more quickly what works and what
doesn't. A smarter search engine might draw more Internet users, and
more advertisers could follow, driving up prices.

Target Dumps Amazon to Steer Its Own E-Commerce Course
Target is taking control of its e-commerce operations and striking out
on its own. The discount retailer plans to build and manage its own
platform for Target.com when its current contract with Amazon.com runs
out in 2011. Target has outsourced its Web site's platform and
fulfillment operations to Amazon for the last eight years.
