Today's Story Highlights

Security Showdown: Cloud Computing vs. On-Premise IT
Much of the cloud security debate revolves around perceptions. It's
about seeing the glass as half-full. Perhaps it's only a matter of
proper practices and means to overcome fear, caution and reluctance to
embrace successful cloud computing. Or is the glass half empty -- that
in order to ramp up to cloud computing use and practices, a number of
potentially onerous and perilous security pitfalls will prove too
difficult?

The BI Outlook: A Bright Spot of Growth in a Gloomy Economy
One business sector weathering the current economic downturn is that of
business intelligence. In fact, Hans Hultgren, director of the Data
Warehousing and Business Intelligence program at Daniels College of
Business, told CRM Buyer that business intelligence is growing and will
continue to do so.

Court Ruling Lets Yahoo Web Radio Avoid Big Licensing Fees
Personalized Internet radio stations got a boost Friday when a federal
appeals court ruled that Yahoo's LAUNCHcast music service was not
interactive enough to be forced to pay hundreds of millions of US
dollars in licensing fees. The court said LAUNCHcast did not offer its
users so much control over selecting songs for personalized Internet
radio stations that the users would choose those webcasts over buying
music.

Is the Show Over for Newspaper Movie Listings?
Filmgoers who have long turned to the local newspaper to find theaters
and show times for movies may have to start looking elsewhere as theater
chains rethink the value of paper and ink in a digital age. The top two
U.S. chains, Regal Entertainment Group and AMC Entertainment, have begun
in recent months to reduce or eliminate the small-type listings showing
the start times for movies at individual theaters.

Hacking Into the High Life
Nestled near a row of sultry, silvery-green palm trees and a 205-foot-
long infinity pool, room 1508 at the National Hotel on South Beach in
Miami is a portrait of Art Deco luxury. It is also where, on May 7,
2008, federal agents seized two computers, $22,000 in cash and a Glock 9
gun from a man known on the Internet as "soupnazi."

Web Giants Wage New Battle in Google Books Saga
A coalition of firms that oppose a settlement reached last year between
Google and some representatives of the publishing industry over its
Google Books project is growing. New members now reportedly include a
troika of Web giants: Amazon, Microsoft and Yahoo. The coalition, called
the "Open Book Alliance," is backed by groups opposing the court
settlement that Google reached last October.
