Sony has introduced a new version of the PlayStation 3, a so-called Slim model that sells for $299. The global recession has taken its toll on the video game industry lately, and consumers are wary of spending a bundle on high-tech consoles. Manufacturers have been pressed to respond, and the PS3 has been squeezed particularly tight due to its status as one of the more expensive options on the market.
