PS3 Slim coming next month for $299

Add this to the list of thing's we're thankful for: Moore's law. Since Intel co-founder Gordon Moore first observed that the number of transistors that can be placed on an integrated circuit doubles approximately every two years, we have enjoyed a bounty of tech gadgetry that gets smaller, better, and cheaper each year. Today's example is the Sony PlayStation--a dynamite gaming console that doubles as a Blu-ray player. September 1, Sony will start selling a PS3 Slim that is 33 percent smaller and has a whopping 120GB hard drive but will cost just $299, a $100 haircut from the current 80GB model. Sony did not finish the announcement with "you're welcome," but it may as well have.
