Today's Story Highlights

The Emergence of the Mediacosm
The growing demand for digital content products and value-added services
is turning communications companies into super-enablers of all things
digitally delivered. The many promising new revenue opportunities
available are creating a mediacosm -- or a new market of converged
communications, media and entertainment services.

Apple, Palm and the 'No-Poaching' Non-Agreement
When Apple CEO Steve Jobs suggested to Palm that the two companies
refrain from hiring away each other's top employees, as reported by
Bloomberg, was he committing an illegal act? Or will he skate by because
Palm CEO Ed Colligan rejected the proposal, so nothing really happened?
The incident occurred two years ago, shortly after Palm had hired former
Apple executive Jon Rubinstein, according to a report.

Changes to Expect When Credit Card Reform Kicks In
New rules meant to give credit card users more information and stop
policies that many consider abusive are starting to take effect. While
the bulk of the Credit CARD Act -- as in "credit card accountability,
responsibility, and disclosure" -- won't kick in until February, two
provisions aimed at helping consumers understand their banks' practices
become mandatory started Thursday.

Justice Dept. Shines Green Light on Oracle's Sun Acquisition
Business software maker Oracle said Thursday it has received the Justice
Department's approval to move forward with its $7.4 billion acquisition
of former dot-com-era star Sun Microsystems. The deal still needs the
go-ahead from the European Commission. Clearance by the Justice
Department had been held up over questions about the licensing of Java.

MySpace Makes Room for iLike
If LinkedIn is for professionals and Facebook is for friends, then
MySpace is still the social network destination for teens/young adults
to sing the praises of the rock bands that they love. To that end,
MySpace announced Wednesday that it would build on that relationship by
acquiring Seattle-based social music application makers iLike.
