The SMB Case for Sending Security Skyward (32:22 minutes)
As more devices -- especially mobile devices -- become part of a
business's network, they create more vectors for attack, and tightening
security becomes increasingly difficult. For some companies, cloud-based
security solutions may be easier to administer, more convenient and less
costly.

Today's Story Highlights
IBM Capitalizes the 'I' in IT
Last week, IBM announced the new Smart Analytics System, a fine-tuned
solution for analyzing both structured information in databases and
unstructured, often incompatible data from sources such as blogs,
emails, information archives, podcasts, videos, Web sites and wikis. In
a separate announcement, IBM said it had entered into a definitive
merger agreement to acquire SPSS.

Accused Domain Name Thief Arrested on Felony Charges
A northern New Jersey man is charged with stealing a prime piece of
Internet real estate and reselling it to basketball player Mark Madsen
in one of the nation's first prosecutions of a suspected domain name
thief. Daniel Goncalves, 25, of Union, hacked into an online account
belonging to one of the owners of the P2P.com domain name, New Jersey
State Police said Monday.

Investors Hold Breath as Cisco Readies Q4 Numbers
Cisco Systems, the world's largest maker of computer networking gear,
reports its fiscal fourth-quarter results on Wednesday. When it reported
results for the February to April quarter, Cisco said that sales seemed
to be bottoming out after falling last year, culminating in big slide in
January. This quarter, analysts and investors will be looking for news
that things have started turning upward again.

Has 'Mortgage Industry Customer Service' Become an Oxymoron?
The Obama administration wants to shame the mortgage industry into doing
a better job of helping borrowers avoid losing their homes to
foreclosure. By publishing the names of companies that are lagging
behind in the government's plan to ease the housing crisis, officials
are counting on public outrage to get the industry on track.

File-Sharing Penalties May Be Scrutinized on Constitutional Grounds
The numbers in two recent copyright infringement lawsuits involving
downloaded music are enough to get tongues wagging. Is a song really
worth $22,500? Or even $80,000? Juries in Massachusetts and Minnesota,
respectively, ordered those awards to the recording industry this year
in cases involving defendants alleged to have illegally downloaded music
from the Internet.

Schmidt Decampment Signals Mounting Apple-Google Rivalry
Only about five miles separate Apple's Cupertino, Calif., campus from
the Googleplex in Mountain View in Northern California's Silicon Valley.
Yet the distance between the two tech giants grew a little wider in
other ways Monday with the news that Google CEO Eric Schmidt would be
stepping down from Apple's board of directors.
