Message From Our Sponsor
When a high-end apparel manufacturer wanted an e-commerce
presence that was easy for merchandisers to manage,
they turned to ATG. Online sales have grown consistently;
more than tripling in their first year.
Read the ATG Case Study to see how.

Podcast
Mobile Development and Multiplicity Madness (34:30 minutes)
iPhone, BlackBerry, Symbian, WinMo, Android -- the world is awash in
smartphone platforms, and this fragmented landscape is a pain for
developers, who have to build an app four or five times in order to
reach all users, as well as enterprises, which have to pay for the work.
However, if the mobile browser world were to rally around WebKit, could
it be the answer to simplified mobile development?

Today's Story Highlights

Windows XP: The Legacy Lives On
The end of mainstream support by Microsoft for Windows XP ended in
April. That deadline came and left with barely an audible groan from the
minions of enterprise, small business and consumer users of the decade-
old operating system. The steadfast legions of corporate Windows XP
users are not facing any dire consequences for not migrating to Windows
Vista, however.

Will ICANN Drop Its Most Revolutionary Idea?
ICANN, the Internet naming authority, is up against the wall. It may
simply drop its greatest revolutionary idea of offering a brand new type
of designer domain name to accommodate the cyberrealities of the widely
expanded Internet of tomorrow. This new proposed platform would surely
revolutionize marketing and branding for big and small businesses around
the world.

Intel Signals Diversification With Wind River Buy
Intel said Thursday it will buy software maker Wind River Systems for
$884 million in an all-cash deal that will help the world's largest
computer chipmaker expand beyond the PC market. Intel said the purchase
will benefit its processor and software offerings for embedded systems
and mobile devices, which run the gamut from smartphones to networking
equipment.

Yahoo, NFL Players Association Feud Over Fantasy Football
Yahoo has sued the NFL Players Association, claiming it shouldn't have
to pay royalties to use players' statistics, photos and other data in
its popular online fantasy football game because the information is
already publicly available. Santa Clara, Calif.-based Yahoo filed its
lawsuit Monday in federal court in Minneapolis.

Customer Loyalty, Marketing and the Auto Industry Turnaround
After filing for bankruptcy protection, General Motors is pushing a new
ad campaign promising it will emerge from its financial troubles leaner
and stronger. Is this a good marketing approach? Will it allay consumer
fears about buying from a carmaker with an uncertain future?

DoJ May Probe Collusion Over Tech Talent Pools
The U.S. Department of Justice has launched an investigation into the
hiring practices of high-tech firms to determine whether they are
colluding with one another, according to a press report. Essentially, it
is investigating possible agreements among high-tech companies not to
poach talent from each other.
