Consolidating modern equipment that takes advantage of virtualization
technology can help an enterprise deliver better services. It can also
help deliver better cost efficiencies. Advanced automated systems can

Today's Story Highlights

Should You Outsource or Keep IT In-House?
Maintaining the network. Ensuring remote users have access to resources.
Updating virus definitions. Troubleshooting email problems. Any number
of IT issues can arise on a daily basis. So does it make sense for small
businesses to hire a full-time IT staffer or outsource their IT needs?
That depends.

Apple Burns Bright With Fat Margins, Plump Profits
Apple issued results for its fiscal third quarter on Tuesday, in the
process blowing out all the stops. Revenues totaled $8.34 billion and
net quarterly profits came in at $1.23 billion, or $1.35 per diluted
share. That works out to a year over year revenue growth of almost 12
percent compared to the $7.46 billion chalked up during Q3 of 2008.

Yahoo to Go Out on Spending Limb in Q3
Carol Bartz has already shown off her cost-cutting skills in her first
six months as Yahoo's chief executive. Now, she will try to prove she
isn't making a a bad bet by spending more money while the Internet
company's advertising sales are still sagging. The risky strategy caused
investors to fret about what might happen in Yahoo's third quarter.

40 Years After
What a summer for remembrances. Forty years ago, a couple of people
landed on the moon, and a half-million of them landed on Max Yasgur's
farm in upstate New York for the Woodstock festival. That might sound
like ancient history, but of course without the space program, who knows
where the technology industry would be today.

Tough Transitions Bruise AMD's Q2
Advanced Micro Devices narrowed its loss in the second quarter, though
not by as much as Wall Street hoped. Its sales slumped 13 percent. AMD's
shares plunged 12 percent in extended trading Tuesday on signs the chip
company isn't being buoyed like rival Intel by the beginnings of a
turnaround in the personal computer market.
